Treasures
Stockpile heavenly treasures; at least that’s what it suggests in Matthew 6:20-21 [NIV] which states, “Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Near the end of The Message version of this verse it states, “…the place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.” Being on a minimalist kick these recent weeks and months – I find myself pondering this verse and asking myself, what are the things that I need in this life to make it full? Having things and being prosperous is a wonderful part of life, but it isn’t what makes life full. I believe this is why this scripture is pointing us back to the heart of it – where is the heart? What is the treasure? Ask yourself these simple questions each week to keep a heart check going on – How full is my heart? What makes my heart full? …the place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.” What and where is that for you? If your answer is something different from your daily reality, then let’s take a step back and re-prioritize some treasures. In doing so, we will look back on these times years from now and thank our younger selves for investing in the things that matter most.
